The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office will not pursue prosecution or further
investigation against Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames after a photo appeared of her soaking
her nails at a salon during theshutdown. Governor Abbott’s new executive order allows for
the opening of cosmetology establishments retroactively to April 2nd. The Texas Department
of Licensing and Regulation has therefore dropped its investigation of the alleged violations.
