Texas AG On Schools Reopening

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is releasing legal guidance on school reopenings. Paxton says it should be up to school officials to decide if and when in-person classes happen instead of local health authorities. Paxton did say local health authorities have some authority to close schools on a case-by-case basis but cannot issue blanket orders. Public schools were ordered to follow the Texas Education Agency's guidelines regarding coronavirus while private schools were encouraged to establish similar protocols.
