A big weekend lies ahead for Texas shoppers. This coming Friday-Sunday is the state’s
annual Sales Tax Holiday Weekend. The law exempts sales tax on qualified items such
as clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks that are priced below $100. Texans
will save about $8 on every $100 they spend. The Texas sales tax holiday weekend has been
an annual event since 1999. Last year, the holiday weekend generated an estimated $102.2
million in savings for Texas taxpayers.
