(Austin, TX) -- A couple of legislators are asking state officials to give Texas breweries and distilleries relief from Gov. Greg Abbott's bar closure order. The governor's pandemic-related order of June 26th shut down the state's bars, defined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission as a business that makes more than half its income from the sale of alcoholic beverages. U.S. Congressman Chip Roy, a Republican whose Hill Country district is home to a number of the state's wineries and distilleries, wrote to the TABC on Monday. Democratic State Representative Erin Zwiener wrote a letter to Abbott on Tuesday.
