Drainage Installed Along I-10

BEAUMONT – Due to recent storm events, TxDOT has begun replacing 23 sections of concrete barrier along I10 in Orange (7) and Chambers County (16) to minimize possible future flooding of the corridor. Each section will be 300’ in length and will be installed along low lying areas where interstate flooding has occurred. The new barrier will be installed in two phases. In the first phase, the permanent concrete median barrier wall will be removed and temporary concrete median barrier will be installed. The temporary wall can be removed should there be a need. In the second phase, which will begin later this year or early next year, the temporary barrier will be replaced with a new permanent barrier recently approved by FHWA. The new wall incudes a 13” tall by 18’ long opening at the bottom of each 30’ section which allows for drainage.
