Update: Deputies Involved In Deadly Shooting

The Texas Rangers along with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office continues its

investigation into Tuesday’s deadly shooting involving two Jefferson County deputy sheriff’s.

The deputies responded to a family disturbance involving a weapon in the 11000 block of

Carpenter. Deputies negotiated with the subject for several hours trying to get him to come

outside a home he barricaded himself in. When the subject exited the trailer, he pointed a

handgun towards the deputies at which time he was shot. The 59-year old Beaumont man was

transported to the hospital where he died. Both deputies have been placed on administrative

leave, which is standard policy.
