The DPS reports one person was killed and two were seriously injured following a two
vehicle wreck in Newton County. According to the report, a car driven by 68-year old
William Hall, of Newton, pulled off of FM 2626 onto Highway 87 and was struck by an
oncoming pickup. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his car, 59-year old
Barney Simmons of Newton, and the driver of the pickup, 27-year old Mason Garcilarzo of
Aransas Pass were both airlifted to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
