Governor Greg Abbott has issued an executive order for the nine Southeast Texas county area
after the region surpassed 15% ICU COVID-19 bed usage for the 7th consecutive day. This
means bars will be closed, restaurants and other establishments cannot exceed 50% capacity and
the area cannot conduct elective surgeries. The region must now go seven days under 15% before
things will resume. Region R is made up of Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Newton, Jasper, Liberty,
Chambers, Galveston, and Brazoria Counties.
