Beaumont police report one person is dead following an officer involved shooting. Just before
5:00 this morning police were called to the area of College and Dowlen in reference to a suicidal
person with a gun. A SWAT team was called to the scene and the person begin firing shots at the
officers around 7:30. An officer returned fire striking the person, who was pronounced dead at
the scene. No one else was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
