TEA Requiring STARR Testing

(Austin, TX) -- The Texas Education Agency says public school students must take the STAAR test in person this spring. The agency says school districts can apply for waivers to socially distance the test takers. The state is requiring students in grades three through 12 to take the standardized tests this spring and summer at "monitored" testing sites. School districts can set up off-campus sites, including performing arts venues, hotels, and recreation centers, where they can "ensure equitable access and maintain test security."
