A mail carrier is recovering following a wreck in Newton County. The mail carrier, 48-year old
Shawna Kay of Burkeville, had stopped her Jeep on Highway 63, near the Louisiana state line to
make a left hand turn when she struck from behind by a car forcing the Jeep into the other lane
into the path of an 18-wheeler. The Jeep was pushed into a ditch. Kay was transported to Jasper
Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. There were no other injuries.
