Five are in custody and a 6th suspect remains at-large following a Wednesday morning pursuit.
Beaumont police were called to Gulf Coast Auction on South 11th Street about auto thefts in
progress. An officer tried to stop the suspect’s vehicle that sped off. The driver lost control
near Lamar University and crashed. Six males fled on foot. Five were apprehended. 17-year
old Cornelius Cunningham, of Pearland, was transported to the Jefferson County Jail. The
other four are juveniles. Two 13-year olds, a 15-year old, and a 16-year old were taken to
the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center.
