A Beaumont transient has been arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of
burglary. 37-year old Brian Ballard is accused of breaking into the lobby of the Red Roof Inn on
I-10 Tuesday morning and attempted to attack the clerk with a hammer. He also attempted to
attack a customer in the parking. It was later learned Ballard stole the hammer and an ATV
from Cowboy Powersports. He was booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
