The owner of Jake’s Fireworks in Nederland and a second man have pleaded guilty to federal
drug trafficking charges. 35-year old Jake Daugherty, of Nederland, pleaded guilty to conspiracy
to posses with intent to distribute a date rate drug over the internet to an unauthorized purchaser.
48-year old Kip Daugherty, of Vidor pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute a
controlled substance analog. Both men face up to 20 years in federal prison. A 2018
investigation led the DEA to Jake’s Fireworks on Twin City Highway in Nederland where the
nationwide illegal activity was taking place. Several others were arrested.
