Early voting begins today in Texas for the March primary runoffs. In Jefferson County, Carey
Erickson and Alex Rupp are in a runoff for commissioner in Precinct 2 from the Republican
primary. The seat is currently held by Darrell Bush, who is filling out the unexpired term of
Brent Weaver who retired. There is not a democratic opponent in the November general election,
Also, Joseph Trahan and Christian “Manuel” Hayes are in a runoff for the Democratic primary
for State Representative in District 22. A seat being vacated by Joe Deshotel, who did not
seek re-election after 22 years in office. The winner does have a Republican opponent in
November. Early Voting continues through Friday. Election Day is a week from tomorrow.
