A judge has dismissed a criminal conspiracy case against a woman accused of conspiring to have
her ex-husband murdered. Kelly Sue Daws was convicted in 2019 for conspiring in the stabbing
of her husband, former Port Arthur Police officer Jerry Daws at his Port Arthur apartment. She
was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The conviction was thrown out when prosecutors and
Daws’ new attorneys agreed mistakes were made in her first trial. After a jury was seated on
Tuesday, the dismissed the case. Daws’ former boyfriend is serving seven years for his role
in the stabbing.
