Intoxication manslaughter charges have been filed against a man that struck and killed a
Jefferson County deputy on Saturday. 38-year old Michael Miller, of Beaumont, was
traveling at an unsafe speed on a curve on Burrell-Wingate Road, lost control and struck 71-year
old Deputy James Lee, who was mowing his yard. Deputy Lee was pronounced dead at the
scene. Miller is in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
