The intoxication manslaughter trial of a man accused in the death of a Beaumont police officer
resumes this morning at the Jefferson County Courthouse. 20-year old Louis Torress is accused
of driving the wrong way on Highway 69 in August of 2020 and colliding head on with a
Beaumont police unit killing officer Sheena Yarbrough-Powell and injuring Officer Gabriel
Fells. During yesterday’s testimony one witness testified Torress was at a house party earlier that
evening. The trial is expected to continue into next week.
