Man Indicted For Intoxication Manslaughter Now Federally Indicted

A man indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury for intoxication manslaughter has now been

indicted by a federal grand jury for being a felon in possession of a firearm. This past July,

38-year old Michael David Miller, of Kountze, was driving on Burrell Wingate Road in

Jefferson County and lost control on a curve striking and killing James Lee, who was on his

riding mower. Lee, a Jefferson County Deputy, died at the scene. Miller, a convicted felon,

had a firearm in his vehicle prohibiting him from possession a gun. If convicted on the

possession charge, he faces up to 15 years in federal prison.
