After 337 days on the run, Matthew Edgar will appear in a Sabine County courtroom today to be
formally sentenced to 99 years in prison for the October 2021 murder of his girlfriend, 19-year
old Livey Lewis. Edgar, who was out on bond, failed to return to the courthouse for his trial that
resumed without him. He was convicted and sentenced to the 99 years. Edgar was arrested last
week near Hemphill without incident. An investigation is underway into who assisted him while
he was on the run for nearly a year.
