(Huntsville, TX) --The state of Texas has carried out its third execution of the year in Huntsville. John Lezell Balentine was given a lethal injection Wednesday for the murder of three teens in 1998. While he confessed to the murders, his lawyers argued there was racial bias in his trial. There was also a delay ordered over a procedural mistake regarding communications with Balentine's lawyers. But all appeals were rejected. In his final statement, Balentine thanked those who supported him and he apologized to the victims' families.
