Gas prices have jumped over the past week. Triple A Texas reports the average price for a
gallon in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area is $3.03 a gallon, which is up four cents from last
week. A year ago we were paying $3.88 a gallon. The statewide average is up eight cents to
$3.16 and the national average for a gallon of gas is up six cents to $3.50.
