A man that pleaded guilty to assaulting a Port Arthur police officer has been sentenced to five years in
prison. 30-year old David Tran, of Bridge City, was arrested this past September. Port Arthur police went
to the Holiday Inn on Jimmy Johnson Blvd about a suspicious person. During his arrest, Tran became
combative trying to escape from arresting officers. He kicked an officer in the head giving her a
concussion and a neck injury. Tran was sentenced to the five years Tuesday by Judge Raquel West.
