Authorities in Illinois managed to track down a pair of suspected robbers with the help of an Apple AirTag. On Tuesday (May 2), two men approached an armored truck parked outside of a Jewel-Osco in the village of Homewood.

They pistol-whipped one of the guards and held him at gunpoint, forcing him into the truck while they stole seven plastic bins and ten deposit bags filled with cash. Officials estimated they stole about $1 million from the truck.

The men then fled the area in a stolen Nissan Maxima.

Fortunately, one of the containers they stole also contained an Apple AirTag, which allowed investigators to track their location. After securing a warrant, officers raided the house and arrested Darrell Singleton and Devonte Davis. A search of the home uncovered hundreds of thousands of dollars and two guns.

While Singleton admitted that he and Davis committed the robbery, Davis claimed he was not involved.

Officials did not say what charges the two men are facing.

Singleton was previously named in a federal complaint in December 2022 for his alleged involvement in stealing $1 million from an armored truck and ATM on Halloween.
