(Austin, TX) -- A second special session is in progress so lawmakers can figure out a way to provide property tax relief for Texans. Governor Greg Abbott called the new special session after the House and Senate failed to come to terms on the best way to use billions from the state's budget surplus to cut property taxes. The Senate adjourned on Tuesday, and the new special session started at 3 p.m. The legislature will concentrate on reducing the school district maximum compressed tax rate and setting up the ultimate elimination of school district property taxes.
