Judge Signs Disaster Declaration, Fire 50% Contained

Jasper County Judge Mark Allen has signed a disaster declaration due to a large fire in the northern

part of the county. As of noon today the fire has burned approximately 3,000 acres and is 50%

contained. Around six homes have been destroyed. No injuries have been reported. Highway 63, near

the fire, is open. Several nearby county roads are closed.
