A shooting in Vinton Saturday morning left a man dead and a Sulphur policer officer wounded. Shots
were exchanged following a pursuit and traffic stop at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 108 and
Gum Island Road. The officer was transported to the hospital with what is believed to be a non-life
threatening gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. A female was taken into
custody.
