On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at approximately 10:45 a.m. local time, a fire occurred in the pyrolysis gasoline unit at the BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemicals LLC site in Port Arthur, TX.
At approximately, 11:55 a.m. the pyrolysis tower collapsed. Emergency personnel is responding to the incident. All employees have been accounted for and there are no injuries. There is no offsite impact.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
