The Beaumont city council has approved a 4% water rate increase. The city says the rate increase is
critical for long-term viability of its system and reducing major problems such as leaks. The council also
approved a 10% sewer rate increase. Mayor Roy West tells KLVI the water and sewer department has
been costing the city more money per month than they bill.
