One area school bond issue passed and another failed in yesterday’s election. In Orangefield, 69%
of the voters said yes to a $49.2 million bond that includes improvements across the district including
career and technology facilities. In Silsbee, 64.1% of the voters rejected an $84.5 million school bond. In
Beaumont, 54% of the voters said no to term limits for city councilmembers. In an highlighted
statewide amendment, 84% of Texas voters approved a proposition for $12.1 billion in property tax relief.
This includes more than seven billion dollars to school districts across the state allowing them to lower
their property tax rates.
