State Agency Urges USDA To Speed Up SNAP Applications

State officials are asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture to do something about delays in processing applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission says the delays have left 138,000 new SNAP applicants waiting months for help. A state corrective action report lists a number of causes that have led to delays from October 2022 through September of this year.
