Houston, TX) -- The nine-year-old fraud case against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is coming to an end. He accepted a plea deal, today, that avoids trial. That's Paxton's defense attorney, Dan Cogdell. The Texas Attorney General was accused of trying to get friends to invest in a Dallas-area tech startup without telling them that he was getting paid. This happened while he was serving in the legislature as a State Representative. The plea deal orders Paxton to serve 100-hours of community service, take training on legal ethics and pay about 300-thousand dollars restitution to the victims.
