Man Pleads Guilty To Intoxication Manslaughter

A man charged in the death of an off duty Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to

intoxication manslaughter. 40-year old Michael Miller entered the plea yesterday for the July 2022

death of Deputy James Lee, who was on his riding mower on Burrell-Wingate Road when Miller’s vehicle

left the road and struck him. The punishment phase of the trial is underway. Miller faces two to 20 years

in prison.
