The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a former Groves city councilman for assaulting a Beaumont
police then fleeing. The officer went to an apartment on Northwest Parkway on May 29th for a civil
standby call. While attempting to place 25-year old Chris Coburn under arrest, Coburn is accused of
attacking the officer and throwing him to the ground. Coburn then ran back and locked himself inside
his apartment.
