Triple A Texas is reporting the average price for a gallon of gas in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area this
morning is $2.98 a gallon, which is down four cents from last week. A year ago on June 14th we were
paying $3.13 a gallon. The statewide average stayed at $3.02. The national average for a gallon of gas
dropped two cents to $3.02. Mississippi has the lowest state average at $2.93, while California has the
highest state average at $4.87.
