Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative Beryl Outage Update 07/09 10:30am

HURRICANE BERYL OUTAGE UPDATE

JNEC crews and contractors, along with mutual aid from other electric Cooperatives are working to restore electric service to an estimated 5,706 meters. Some outages have been restored however, many areas are still riddled with debris from wind, downed trees, downed powerlines and other damage left from the storm making assessing the areas difficult.

As assessments continue, in addition to the harder hit areas mentioned previously, crews are finding large amounts of scattered smaller outages across JNEC’s service area. These outages are mostly from broken poles, trees and tree limbs on powerlines. Repairs alone take time but getting to these areas can sometimes be difficult and even more time-consuming. Having many of these situations slows down the restoration effort. These guys will get to everyone, we just ask that you be patient as we work through many of these conditions.

All available crews are dispatched to outages. Additional contractors and electric cooperatives will continue to arrive throughout the day to assist JNEC with repairs and restoration efforts. Currently there is no estimated time of restoration. It is possible for some areas to be without service for 48 hours or longer. As damage continues to be assessed and we have more information, we will share it.

Outages by county are as follows:

Angelina – 212

Jasper – 3,877

Newton – 1,395

Orange –199

Sabine – 23
