Gilbert Building To Remain Standing....For Now

The Gilbert Building in downtown Beaumont will remain standing for now. By a 4-3 vote, city council has given owner Tom Flannigan 150 days to bring the building up to standards. Mayor Roy West tells KLVI Flannigan will have to give the council a progress update at the end of October. West also says the city is hoping to have the streets around the building reopened by sometime next week. The building was gutted by fire on June 6th.
