Beaumont Police Department Enhancing Public Safety

Beaumont, TX – The Beaumont Police Department (BPD) is reinforcing its commitment to public safety by ensuring officers are available for urgent, in-progress situations while continuing to streamline how non-emergency incidents are reported. For over 15 years, BPD has provided online and telephone reporting options, though they remain underutilized. By emphasizing these established methods, we aim to enhance response times for priority calls.

We want to reassure the community: this does not mean you are on your own! Instead, this reinforced use of online/telephone reporting allows officers to be more readily available for when they are needed most while still ensuring “information only” reports are properly documented and investigated.

Efficient Handling of Cold Reports

Certain incidents, known as cold reports, have already occurred and no longer present an active threat. These cases will still be thoroughly documented and investigated through already existing, streamlined reporting options.

Examples of cold reports include:

• Minor assaults (after the fact when no immediate medical attention or ongoing threat exists)

• Auto burglaries (when no suspect is present)

• Criminal mischief (such as vandalism or property damage that has already occurred)

• Forgery & fraud (cases where no suspect is actively involved at the time of reporting)

BPD continues to offer multiple ways for citizens to file reports, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up while allowing officers to focus on more pressing emergencies.
