School Voucher Bill Heading To Texas House

(Austin, TX) --A Republican-backed school voucher bill is on its way to the Texas House after the Senate passed it late Wednesday.Senate Bill 2 will provide tax dollars to Texas families to fund their children's private school tuition or home schooling. The money would be made available through state-managed education savings accounts. The bill passed on a 19-12 vote over Democratic opposition. A similar bill failed in the House two years ago, but the new bill is expected to have enough House supporters to be sent to Governor Greg Abbott's desk.
