A Jasper man is jailed for stealing electricity. 57 year old Joel Derwin Jones is accused of tampering with a meter box on Recreational Road 255. Two large copper wires were placed in the box allowing electricity to flow to a house that had its electricity cutoff in July of 2022. Nearly $9,000 worth of electricity had been stolen. Jones is charged with theft of service.
