$45 Million for a Gas Station? Rand Paul Sums up Government Spending Problem With This Story.

What’s going on?

Last night, Congress passed a bipartisan budget deal that will increase government spending caps by $300 billion in the next two years.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was one lawmaker trying to stop the government from “spending us into oblivion,” but he was overruled. “What you are seeing is recklessness being passed off as bipartisanship,” he said.

Paul described a ridiculous example of wasteful government spending: a natural gas fueling station in Afghanistan that nobody could use. That’s $45 million in taxpayer dollars down the drain that supposedly went to “reduce the carbon footprint.”

Glenn’s take:

On today’s show, Glenn blasted Republicans for getting control of Congress and the White House and not keeping their promises to voters.

“This is a dictatorship,” Glenn said. “The dictators are in the Senate, the dictators are in the House, and they’re called Republican and Democratic leadership.”
