'THE BOSS BABY' RULES THE BOX OFFICE WITH $26 MILLION (04/10/2017)
The baby is in charge! DreamWorks Animation/Fox’s The Boss Baby came in number one at the box office this weekend with $26.3 million and Disney's Beauty and the Beast nipped at its heels with $25 million.
Sony’s threequel Smurfs: Lost Village fell behind in third with an estimated opening of $14 million, considered to be a disappointment for the established franchise.
While none of these numbers is impressive, year-over-year business this weekend was up 15% over last year.
All eyes are on next weekend for Universals’ Fate of the Furious’ opening, expected to bring in $100 million.
