'FATE OF THE FURIOUS' ROUTES FIVE NEWBIES WITH $38M WEEKEND (04/24/2017)
Fate of the Furious continued to dominate the box office in its second week of release. The eighth installment of the Universal franchise held fast to its No. 1 spot, bringing in an estimated $38.68 million.
So far, the movie has raked in an impressive $163.6 million domestically, $900 million internationally.
Disneynature’s Born in China and Warner Bros.’ Unforgettable are neck-and-neck with each other, with Born edging out Unforgettable in its debut weekend with $5 million vs. $4.7 million.
Another debut, The Promise, brought in $4 million. The Terry George-helmed film stars Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac and focuses on the Armenian genocide.
Two debuts this week didn’t make it to the top 10. Horror Phoenix Forgotten brought in about $1.7 million and Free Fire managed $960,000.
