The crazy cat lady stereotype may be inspired by a bit of truth, finds science. Studies have shown cats have the best relationships with owners who are adult women for various reasons. One reason is that women tend to interact with cats on their level (on the floor), while men tend to interact with cats while seated. Also, children, especially boys, tend to approach cats directly, which may not be tolerated well by cats. According to research, paternal friendliness, as well as socialization to people, affects responses to people throughout a cat's life.
