Caitlyn Jenner For Senate ?

US-ENTERTAINMENT-GLAMOUR WOMEN OF THE YEAR 2016

Transgender activist and former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner is the latest celebrity to consider a run for political office.

On Sunday, Jenner told John Catsimatidis’s AM radio show that she is mulling the move seriously: “I have considered it. I like the political side of it. I gotta find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside, and we are in the process of determining that.”

Jenner said she hopes to change the way the Republican Party operates and is perceived.

“The perception of the Republican Party is that they are all about rich white guys trying to make money. I would hope in the next generation … that we can change the perception of the Republican Party and make it the party of equality,” she said.

While Jenner is an outspoken Republican and supported President Donald Trump in his bid for office, she has called his rollback of protections for the transgender community a “disaster.”

If she does run, the next opportunity would be in California’s race for Senate in 2018. The California Republican Party has elected celebrities before, including former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former congressman Sonny Bono and former president Ronald Reagan.

Last fall, Kanye West announced he’s running for president in 2020. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has also said he’d consider a run for president. Kid Rock also threw his hat in the ring, saying he is mulling a run for Senate.
