Mom Gets Surprising Call From Son's School

An Oklahoma mother was at work when her son's school called. Any mother would be anxious to know what it's about and if her child is all right. But her son turned out to be just fine and wasn't in any trouble but something did happen. The boy, Brylan, had a dead squirrel in his backpack which was discovered by a teacher. The mother was stunned. The teacher told her it was because the child said he wanted "squirrel dumplings" for dinner and then went on to ask the boy's mom if she wanted him to actually bring the dead animal home. The boy's mom, Ladye Hobson, wrote in a post for Her View From Home, "To say I am embarassed is an understatement. I. Am. Mortified. A dead squirrel? Why is it in his backpack? How did the squirrel die? And WHY in the world would he try to keep this dead animal in his backpack? ... She then asks me if I actually want the squirrel to come home with him. Ya'll, I had to explain that we are from the country, but we are not THAT country!" (Mirror)
