74-YEAR-OLD MAN MAKES 500TH BLOOD DONATION: A 74-year-old Chicago man has made his 500th blood donation. Richard Packman made his first blood donation back in the '90s at his local church because a parishioner's child had been diagnosed with cancer. Decades later, Packman sat in a blue chair inside the James R. Thompson Center to make his 500th blood donation. The staff commemorated the special day by buying a cake for Packman. (Chicago Tribune)
