A Reddit thread asked: "What are the best conversation starters on a first date?" Some of the answers included:
·If you're at a place like a bar, play a people watching game where you try and come up with backstories for other people in the room. It can be a lot of fun and takes some of the pressure off, while getting you two talking to each other and getting a feel for each other's sense of humor/personality.
·Something along the lines of "If money wasn't an issue, what would you be doing right now?"
·I love asking people what their favorite books are. Even people who respond with "oh, I'm not much of a reader" will have something that stuck with them years ago if I throw in something like, "I'm at the end of my reading list and can always use suggestions." I've gotten much more personal responses than asking about favorite movies or TV shows.
·A friend of mine asked his date to tell him about her best friend, how they met, etc. This showed he was interested in her life, not just her directly, and got him some more tidbits of convo to segue into.
