Go ahead and let your kid play some video games this summer. Iowa State University researchers found video games that foster creativity and freedom can increase your child's creativity under certain circumstances. Researchers found kids given the freedom to play Minecraft without instruction were most creative. The game is like a virtual Lego world, and allows players to explore unique worlds and create anything they can think of. Kids who played Minecraft and were told to be creative showed the least amount of creativity later. The scientists say most video games encourage players to be creative, even first-person shooter games force players to think about strategy and to look for advantages in combat.
