Every once in a while comes along a story that warms the cockles of your heart. (Cockles, I understand do not impede the arteries in any way, but I digress.) Every Wednesday we devote a little time to the Humane Society of Beaumont and try to find a home for an animal. Frodo (and that’s his name) was a cute little black with white spots cat that the HS just couldn’t find a home for. He had overstayed and was in danger of being euthanized which is what happens to animals not adopted. It hurt me because I am a softie anyway. I pleaded all morning and the next on the air. Lo and behold, comes a good Samaritan who scoops up the little guy and takes him home. He stays in touch with me to let me know how happy Frodo is. This morning I received the e mail that told me Frodo now weighs 15 pounds. He has found his forever home. Bless you sir and all of you who find homes for lonely animals. Every morning the first thing I do after  walking into the kitchen is to pet my Siamese. Skeeter is also a great animal picked up from the HS by my wife. She also weighs close to 15 pounds. Neither cat is bothered by calorie counts. They are too happy. And I am happy for them. I believe the term is unrequited love. Our rescue dog watches her weight but is also happy. And I am a happy guy.
